Cannot add new filter or restore default filter

Description

  • Under Preferences|Filter pressing Add new filter does nothing.
  • Under Preferences|Filter pressing Restore default filter does nothing.

I uninstalled dTa, restarted FireFox? and re-installed dTa. But the problem is still there.

dTa version: 1.0.1 (I selected version 1.0, because 1.0.1 was not in the list when I created the new ticket) Firefox version: 3.0b5 OS: Win XP SP2

Confirmed. I'm having the same problem with dta 1.0.3 in Firefox 3.0.1.

Also, changes in the filters are applied before OK is clicked. Clicking Cancel does not restore the previous values.

I have the same problem, dta 1.0.3, Firefox 3.0.1, Vista. Though after the last start of Firefox I suddenly had 20 new filters in the box - and now I couldn't delete them! Hm.... Could this be a rights / security problem within the filesystem?

Another confirmation. Expanding on thinkstorm's entry above I closed and re=opend FF and sure enough I had a bunch of new filters. To expand this I selected each new entry and clicked delete with no apparent action but when Firefox was restarted the new entries were gone.

This makes it somewhat possible to work around this as I don't change filters very much but it would be great to see this fixed.

For those who might have troubles to create a new filter, I encountered a strange behaviour, maybe you should try it.

Wenn clicking on "Add filter", this new item is not added immediately. Rather close the preferences window and finally close FF. Start it again, open any new site and again go to the preferences window. Now a new item should appear named "New filter". After changing the filter name and regexp, again close the window by clicking ok, and then restart FF.

After a few attempts I got it done, however, it is strange for me. Usually such an item should be added immediately, so I guess this might be a new bug as well.

I haven't seen this thread... hm, ok. This is my posting: If I try to create a new filter and therefore click on 'Add new Filter' seemingly nothing happened. But about:config showed, that a new filter was created - but not active. When activating it using 'Toggle' in about:config, the filter appears in the list of filters and can be edited as usual, but it can not be deleted (using 'Delete Filter'). I'm not absolutely sure if really FF 3.0.6 is the first version which makes this happen, but I found it out when I intended to create a couple of filters with this nightly of FF. Unfortunately I have no Release-Version of FF installed, but I think it could be useful if you try what I have tried at least once. Thanks a lot. I use Win XP prof. SP 3 on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6pre) Gecko/2008120507 GranParadiso/??3.0.6pre My active AddOns?? was (each of them using the latest versions in this moment): AdBlock?? plus.

Bug is fixed in my installation and DTA works clean as far as I can see. Good work and thanks for the fix!

Yes, this is fixed - please mark accordingly :)

It did introduce two new issues, one with the jumping cursor position after renaming (ticket:1010) and one that might be a feature (ticket:1011) when you press 'Cancel' after inserting a new rule...
