Save Settings?

Description

Firefox 2.0.0.12, dTa 1.0

I have used dTa for several years with Firefox. In the previous version my session settings would become default for my next dTa session. (Within a Firefox session if not across close/reopen.) The current version provides blank destination and renaming mask boxes each time I open dTa although dTa One Touch works correctly. This occurs within a Firefox session as well as across sessions.

I've failed to identify a method of setting a default or saving a particular setting. Again, this has changed from the previous install of dTa.

You suggested this was the fault of Firefox's data save in ticket #574 but that fails to explain why this affects dTa but not dTa One Touch. That part of your add on appears to save settings fine suggests there is a glitch on your end.

Can you help?

I almost forgot... I'm using WinXP Pro ver. 2002, SP2 on a 2.8GHz Pentium 4 cpu.

I'd really like to know what values you have for renaming mask. Would be great if you could provide those.

  • Type about:config into the address bar and enter
  • Filter for extensions.dta.directory
  • Filter for extensions.dta.renaming
  • (You may copy the values from the context menu)
  • Put both values (directory/renaming) in a .txt file and attach here please.

What locale are you using? en-US?

extensions.dta.directory.visibledump user set boolean false

(I haven't changed anything here so I assume it's user set due to the use of

the add-on)

extensions.dta.renaming default string ['*name*.*ext*', '*num*_*name*.*ext*', '*url*-*name*.*ext*', '*name* (*text*).*ext*', '*name* (*hh*-*mm*).*ext*']

Yes, locale is en-US

Will typing this here work for you?

I usually either type *name*.*ext* or type a text name with .*ext* behind it.

Thanks for your assistance.

Maybe IM me, so that there isn't that much "lag" between answers?

Sorry about the lag but I'm at work... can't be helped. I can't use an IM program unless it doesn't require installation.

I was using a theme (Blue Ice) but I returned to the default, restarted and experienced no change in the behavior of the dTa add on.

Hello,

i've got same problems. On my notebook dta won't save neither directory nor renaming scheme. But on my PC it works fine. But settings are identical. Any solutions for this problem so far? it's aweful typing these things any time using dta.

I haven't heard back since my comment on March 12th and haven't found a solution to the problem on my end either. Sorry Der Pete. Nothing to report.

did you try with Firefox v3.x ?... I if remember correctly, I had had this problem with Firefox 2.x, when I upgraded it to DTA 1.0.. so forced to stick with DTA 0.x.. But that bug disapeard when I switched to Firefox 3 (clean new install)

also, is your DTA history set to 0 ? one loses its last folder (or call it "default folder") if history set to 0.. so I set it to 1
