Let users choose flatcurl/flatdirs slash replacement character

Reported by: qetomil Assigned to:

Component: --- Version: ---
Keywords: slash replacement flatcurl flatdirs Cc:
Operating System: All

Description

Users may need to trace their downloaded files back to their original locations online, even if they have downloaded them for reasons of convenience using the *flatcurl* or *flatdirs* mask. Currently flatcurl and flatdirs replace slashes in the source URLs with hyphens. Since hyphen is a character commonly used in URLs, the back-tracing becomes a problem (what is a real hyphen vs. what was a "/").

Proposal: let users choose their replacement character (or a character pattern) in Preferences.

THANK YOU

Nope, we are already beyond preferences bloat, and this will just add to it.

Maybe we should use a hidden pref (i.e. change it with about:config only). This would be a workable compromise...

I agree, about:config is fine. Can you make it?

Thanks, q
