I disable the DTA options from showing up in the Firefox download confirmation window (not the CTRL+J Download status window), but I notice when I have the Firefox download confirmation window (the window where you can select to open the file from its location, or "save to disk" option) the downthemall option are still selectable even though they are hidden from sight. The way I found out that the hidden DTA radio buttons are still there is by using the keyboard to select my download choices. So for instance, when I hit the up arrow when the radio button for "Save to Disk" is selected and hit enter, the DTA download window pops up, even though on the Firefox download confirmation window, it does not show any traces of DTA options. When I did hit the up arrow as mentioned above, I notice the radio button for "Save to Disk" deselects, meaning that it has jumped to the hidden DownThemAll download option. I would think it would be best to actually have the option disable DTA all together in the Firefox download confirmation window rather than just hiding the radio buttons from plain site.
